COUNSELLOR - CounSelling SUPERVISOR
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING and GROUP COUNSELLING SUPERVISION IN THE UK
COUNSELLOR
I am a team member of Counselling & Psychotherapy Services; a counsellor based in the UK with over 20 years of counselling experience. I have been working with adult survivors of sexual and emotional abuse for many years. My work with you is to enable you to understand the impact of trauma and the effects it has had in your life. To assist you in working through the guilt trauma, and sometimes blame, in order to develop and grow heathy relationships with others and also yourself
My training is primarily Psychodynamic; this has been the predominant theory underpinning my way of working.
Over two decades of experience and additional training have meant that my working practice has encompassed various ways of working to meet your needs.
My presence in our counselling relationship is to be neutral, accepting, objective, and in the moment with you. To enable you to understand that many of our adult behaviours are rooted in our childhood experiences and are played out not only in a particular instance but in many instances, including within the counselling relationship.
My work with you is to enable you to reflect not only on current events but also on those in the past. In our relationship, we are not working on suppressing your feelings but allowing them to enter the room. Counselling does not make things disappear but allows you to work through issues of your past and understand the impact.
